I went into Fired Up! second guessing the premise from the outset. How could a PG-13 raunchy teen sex comedy be any good? I forgot a PG-13 rating pretty much means the only two things not allowed are nudity and an overt number of uses of the F-word. Fired Up! takes advantage of all the PG-13 loop holes, avoids using even one f-bomb and on top of that actually delivers enough comedy to keep you entertained throughout. I'm as shocked by all of this as you may be, but Fired Up! actually makes for a decent comedic distraction

Shawn Colfax (Nicholas D’Agosto) and Nick Brady (Eric Christian Olsen), the stars of the Gerald R. Ford High School football team, are dreading the prospect of another summer at football camp. After Nick hatches a scheme for the two to join their schools cheerleaders at cheer camp instead, they find themselves awash in a sea of gorgeous young women. The guys are having the time of their lives until Shawn falls for Carly (Sarah Roemer), the beautiful head cheerleader who is very suspicious of their motives. To win Carly over, the boys must come up with some surprising new moves to prove Shawns intentions before the all-important cheer competition finals.

As a film, things get more problematic. Jeff Lau's film mixes some of his older tricks (overdone mo lei tau) with newer ones (all the pesky CG effects). The whole is a bombastic fantasy mess, but some charm does exist in there.
