The modern element-oriented 2D/3D CAD system mechanical design with synchronous technology without the tree construction. Modeling parts and assemblies, creating drawings, manage transparent data channel and a built-in finite element analysis (FEA) makes Solid Edge with synchronous technology a key component of the line of Velocity Series, to simplify product development.
Initially the system Solid Edge was developed by Intergraph on the basis of the geometric kernel ACIS. In 1995, he was released the first version of Solid Edge V1. Design tools parts from sheet metal was first presented in October 1997 in version 3.5. After the acquisition of UGS in 1998, the system Solid Edge, starting with version 5.0, was transferred to the nucleus Parasolid. Since September 2006, the company also offers a freely available product for creating 2D documentation - Solid Edge 2D Drafting. In 2007, concern Siemens acquired UGS, from this moment the system is developed and supported by Siemens PLM Software. In 2008 was released of Solid Edge with synchronous technology support. May 26, 2009 Siemens PLM Software announced the release of Solid Edge with synchronous technology.

Solid Edge provides users with scalable solutions for managing design data and tools for collaborative work. Solid Edge Modeling tools allow you to create different projects - from individual components to assemblies, consisting of thousands of components. Solid Edge is used in designing a wide range of products for various industries: machine building, aviation, shipbuilding, oil refining, production of consumer goods, etc. Our clients include such companies as: Schatti AG, Summit Tool Design, Plant Aleksinskij heavy industrial valves, Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant, Akvatis and many others.

Unlike other CAD-systems based on the principles of direct editing, synchronous technology is included in Solid Edge, allows to combine the flexibility of direct modeling with the ability to control amendments, which is characteristic of modeling on the basis of constraints (relations). The system makes editing parts, eliminating the need to decrypt the wood building, designed by conventional method. 3D-models in Solid Edge can be created without pre-planning strategies for their establishment. Using tools such as direct editing function "drag", you can create models with virtually no assistance to complex commands and apply different modeling scenarios, regardless of the method of creating models. Simulation without building a tree based on structural elements, combines elements of the group, thus avoiding the lengthy reconstruction of the whole model with modifications to it. You can add control 3D dimensions and relationships to any part of the finished model. Operations to be performed at later stages of the design cycle, can change the size and position of the previously created geometry. Function "direct links" automatically recognizes and supports the geometric relationship, "Procedural Elements" provide a parametric editing of elements such as apertures and arrays. "Simultaneous solver" at the same time performs all of these methods, thus avoiding the full reconstruction of the model in its editing. All the tools are applicable to the Solid Edge data imported from other CAD systems, just as it does to its own models, while in the course of editing saved the most important geometrical relationship. Users can edit geometry by selecting it or using the automatic selection of elements, where elements such as bosses, ribs or cutouts, are automatically recognized. For parameterization of the imported models can be stamped three-dimensional size control and bind their values with the tables for a better use of available engineering data. The new version of Solid Edge c 2 synchronous technology improved modeling tools parts, assemblies, body panels, as well as implemented built-in finite element analysis and integration with PDM based on the platform Microsoft SharePoint.
