Differences to previous versions
We have expanded the range of functions of the new O&O Defrag 11 to make it even easier to use. For the first time, it is possible to defragment single folders or files over the context menu besides the usual hard disks and partitions. Furthermore, we have developed a background moni- toring function, which automatically protects your computer against strong fragmentation without you as a user having to get involved. The new and sophisticated file status view shows you the quantity and the fragmentation level of the most extensively affected files. Also, the al- ready familiar block view has been enhanced with detailed information. Thus, you will receive an overview with O&O Defrag 11, of where the in- dividual fragmented parts of the files are to be found on the hard disk.

Maximum efficiency thanks to new technology
Fragmentation is the main reason for an extensive performance loss un- der Windows. Since hard disks tend to be the slowest components of a computer, it is imperative that their performance is optimized. Newly developed technologies within O&O Defrag 11 allow for an even better adjustment to Windows Vista and a better processing of especially big file systems (several million files) – while still using the least amount of working memory. Thanks to O&O Defrag 11, many files can be read and written much faster and you can be sure that your hard disk is continu- ously performing at its peak.

Five different defragmentation methods
O&O Defrag 11 uses five different methods of defragmentation opti- mized to meet the individual needs of every system. As a professional defragmentation software, O&O Defrag 11 allows for the application of all defragmentation methods on all drives of any size.

Automatic defragmentation
The O&O OneButtonDefrag Wizard makes it easy to select the optimal strategy for automatic defragmentation. Depending on whether your computer is used more for gaming or working, O&O Defrag 11 chooses specific strategies and combinations for the automated defragmenta- tion, and adjusts to changing needs over time. In addition, O&O Defrag
11 can be set up to start the defragmentation at a certain level of frag- mentation of the hard disk or a partition, on specific days of the week, or whenever your screensaver is active. Stopping and resuming the de- fragmentation later on is possible at all times, since O&O Defrag 11 automatically recognizes where the defragmentation was interrupted

Power management for notebooks
The O&O IntelligentPowerControl Technology provides for a special kind of support for mobile systems. As soon as your notebook is discon- nected from external power sources, O&O Defrag 11 changes to the pause mode and the defragmentation is halted. As a result, no battery power is used up for the defragmentation and you are able to continue doing your work on full power. The defragmentation resumes whenever you reconnect your notebook to an external power source.
